Performances keep us all inspired

Campers and staff members perform in many concerts each summer, usually three or four performances each week, with extra performances on parents’ visiting days and at the end of each session. Most weeks there are two camper concerts and one staff concert given in the evening after dinner. These concerts are open format, so each performance will usually include a mix of solos, duets, trios, small ensembles and large ensembles.

Building confidence in the spotlight

Solo performance on camper concerts is not mandatory, although it is encouraged when a camper is deemed ready to perform by his or her instructor. Through these regular concerts, campers are exposed to a wide range of musical repertoire in many different genres. This sort of exposure is an important part of all campers’ general musical education because it helps them to broaden their musical horizons beyond whatever material they themselves are working on at any given moment.

It is clear that the campers worked hard throughout the summer and the performances were excellent. The counselors and faculty at Encore/Coda created an environment of collaboration and love of music which was so clear throughout all the aspects the camp.”
