Mixed instrument ensembles that develop skills

Our orchestras rehearse every day, often for 2 hours. Music faculty will place the campers into one or two of our 3 orchestras based on their Ensemble Placement Recording, a recording you submit after you have enrolled.

All of our orchestras are led by faculty and campers play next to counselors and faculty. In orchestra, the campers perform a combination of traditional masterpieces, modern repertoire, and works by underrepresented composers.

Philharmonia

Our string-only ensemble for advanced beginner and intermediate players. This ensemble develops campers’ skills in sight reading, listening, and following a conductor through the study of both original literature for string orchestra and arrangements.

Senior Orchestra

Our full orchestra is for advanced string, wind, brass and percussion players. This ensemble performs larger orchestral works and often collaborates with soloists and choral ensembles.

Chamber Orchestra

Comprised of staff members and campers in the Conservatory program, playing works written for chamber orchestra. Other campers are invited to be members of this group if they are excellent sight readers and can play at an advanced level.
