Helena Hyesoo Kim is a prizewinning Korean-Canadian pianist, arts administrator, and educator who performs internationally. She has appeared at major venues including Carnegie Hall and Severance Hall and has performed across Europe, Asia, and North America. She has appeared as soloist with the Chopin Poland Orchestra. An advocate for underrepresented women composers. Kim studied at Yewon Art School and holds degrees from McGill University and the University of Cincinnati. Bachelor’s degree in Percussion Performance and Music Education from Eastman. Studied with professors Chip Ross, Rich Thompson, Mark Hodges, and Michael Burritt. In addition to playing in ensembles at Eastman, Seth has participated in the Chautauqua orchestral festival in 2023, the World Percussion Group Baltic Tour in 2024, and Nashville Marimba Sessions in 2025. The World Percussion Group festival consisted of a tour in Europe, visiting Germany, Estonia, the United Kingdom, Finland, Sweden, and Denmark. Member of Drum Corps International with Spirit of Atlanta in 2021 and Colts in 2022. In 2022, the Colts placed 11th in the world for the first time in 15 years and broke their all-time high score. Seth will soon be headed to Denmark to study at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen, Denmark for his master’s in percussion performance.
