What Level of Musicianship Is Required?
Camp Encore/Coda brings out musical excellence at any level, from beginner to advanced. We require our campers to practice, rehearse, and take music classes daily, and campers are placed in ensembles based on ability.
Our Conservatory Program is an audition-based program that is available to our most advanced Upper Campers.
Our Prelude Program is an audition-based program that is available to our most advanced Lower Campers.
We typically have all levels of musicians at every age, ranging from grades 3-11.
Faculty & Staff
Professional musicians and graduate students deliver all music instruction. They also perform weekly to inspire our campers to be the best they can be!
Counselors who live in the cabins with campers are undergraduates and assist in teaching or playing in our music and recreational programs. They bring a ton of energy to daily life at camp. Many of our fun and enthusiastic counselors were also campers at E/C!
Recreation and Sports
We value a balanced schedule at Encore/Coda. On top of the sports and arts & crafts classes we offer during the day, our FUNdays and our evening activity program are filled with high-energy games and events like campfires, capture the flag, trivia, and much more!
The highlight of our recreation program is our beautiful waterfront. You can swim, paddle board, play water polo, work out, or just relax on the beach every day!

Meet our Music Departments!
Campers can customize their schedule to explore any and every genre offered!
CLASSICAL
Campers gain experiences in our large ensembles (3 orchestras, 2 wind bands, 3 choirs) and can participate in our robust chamber music program. All campers are required to take music theory, and campers can elect classical-themed history classes. We offer conducting and composition classes, and we have specific piano skills classes for our pianists!
JAZZ
Encore/Coda has three jazz bands that cater to distinct age groups and musical levels. Our upper campers can also be placed in small combos that rehearse every day. Our Jazz program has many supplemental offerings in improvisation, arranging, theory, and history. Even campers with no previous jazz experience are encouraged to start learning jazz at camp!
ROCK/POP
Campers of any age can be placed into one of our rock bands. Our program teaches campers pop-chord reading, learning from music and from ear, and the importance of balance and listening. All of our rock bands perform at the end of camp during our big Rock Fest! We also offer songwriting classes and rock/pop history electives.
THEATER
Believe it or not, we put on 2 full musicals each session, one for upper camp and one for lower camp! Campers memorize lines, sing, dance, and act through our theater program. We also offer theater workshops outside of normal rehearsal time, as well as a broadway class, theater improvisation and dance classes.
“Thank you very much for giving our daughter, Catherine such a great music camp experience. She was in tears leaving the camp and stated that she wished she could stay longer…”
